There’s a bone!

Crafting a singular material: from bone to object

Bone, horn, ivory, salvage and prestige… The Roman Museum in Nyon takes a closer look at a handicraft known as “tabletterie”, whose protagonists relied on their know-how, a few tools and a sense of how to make rational use of animal resources and materials. Now almost universally replaced by plastic, the ingenious, varied and often beautiful objects made by these craftsmen were part of everyday life in Antiquity.

This publication was issued on the occasion of theexhibition.
